This drink is originally part of the Aztec culture, and even today it is popular in Central America. As early as 1871 the researcher Edward Palmer wrote: “To make chia, fry the grains fried, ground and poured with water until a thick mass is formed that is several times larger than the original volume.” Then add the sugar, which is a semi-liquid beverage that now very much appreciated among the Indians, as this is one of the best and most nutritious foods, especially when traveling through the desert. “
Ingredients:
1 cup of chia seeds, washed and strained, 100 ml lemon juice, 1 cup of dark brown sugar (taste can be replaced with a portion of sugar from stevia, saccharin or other sweeteners), 2.5 liters of water, mint or melissa – if desired.
Cooking method.
Soak chia seeds in half a liter of water for about an hour. In the remaining water, mix the lemon juice and sugar. Mix the soaked chia seeds and water, chilling in the refrigerator for 2 hours and feeding. Before serving, it should be well mixed with a spoon to distribute evenly the seeds throughout the volume of the drink. You can add mint or melissa with crushed ice, like “mojito”.
